Fixtures for League 2011

The fixtures for 2011 have been announced and are shown below.  Everyone should aim to compete in at least two/ three races.  They are really cheap and easy to enter - not too far to travel so no excuses - let's get the club back on top in 2011.

 
London League 2011

When planning your schedule for 2011 - remember to add in a couple of London League races.  They are cheap to enter and fairly local.  Great to use as training races to practice those all important transitions.  Also a race makes you try harder than any normal training session but as they are relatively short it is possible to train right through and recover easily after.

 Triathlon London League Minimize

The Triathlon London League is designed to foster rivalry between teams in the London region, and to support the races organised by London region clubs.  As a big London club, with our own race to promote, this is right up our street! 

The scoring is worked out by taking the finishing positions of the top 3 men, top woman, and top vet (male or female) from each club.  Clubs are ranked at each race based on this 5-person team, and then each club's 3 best races over the season are used to decide the winner.

The races are a mixture of duathlons, sprint tris and aquathlons.  All are easy to reach from South West London, and all are very cheap to enter.  They make good practice for your "A" events and can easily be fitted into even the most demanding training programme - just ask your coach!

REMINDER: when entering these races, make sure you put "Ful-On Tri" as your club, otherwise your result won't count to the team score.

Ful-On Duathlon

Our very own race in its second year at Kempton Park will be kicking off the season this year.  Lots of volunteers needed to marshall and race.

Dragonslayer Duathlon

Duathlon on the twisty and hilly Redbridge cycling circuit.  Big cycle leg relative to run and also a tough hill on the course, so one for the bikers.  We will be defending our fine victory here last year so if you are marshalling on Satuday at the Ful-on duathlon then great opportunity to race on Sunday.

25 April

Thames Turbo Race 1

Easter Monday.  Sprint triathlon with a heated outdoor pool swim.  Nice local race easily cycleable from SW London.  Nice finish to the run in Bushy Park.

8 May

Morden 6-n-6 Aquathlon

Aquathlon near Wimbledon - a 600m pool swim and a 4 lap, 6 mile (~10k) run round a shady woodland trail in a pretty park.

Crystal Palace Tri

Pool swim, closed-road multi-lap bike route with a sharp uphill and a swooping fast descent, and a two-lap hilly run.    .....oh and apparrently carbon neutral..... until FoT turn up in their multitude of Chelsea tractors.

17 July

Hillingdon Triathlon Race 3

Really nice friendly race in a surprisingly rural corner of London. Free coke and doughnuts at the finish, one-wave mass-start lake swim, mixed-terrain run and fast undulating bike route round Harefield village.  Unusual swim/run/bike format favours the bikers and avoids T2 jelly-legs.

Clash of the Tritons Aquathlon

Friendly aquathlon tucked away in South East London.  Short distance makes it easy to integrate with your regular Saturday ride.  500m swim followed by flat grassland run round the playing fields of Eltham.  Good spot prizes and goody bags.

Jekyll and Hyde Duathlon

End of year blowout with carved pumpkins as prizes!  Closed road race in Hyde Park, unusual format with long run at the end.
