Changes since last year
There are a couple of significant changes to the race format from previous years. To slow down the bike-to-bike transition (T2), the timing chip must now be worn by every team member on every leg of the race and passed on at each changeover like a baton. The run finish area has also moved - instead of being in front of the grandstand it's now moved to be next to the run-to-run transition (T3)
Race Pack
The official race pack is now available - see the link in the box to the left. The handout notes from the briefing will also be uploaded shortly.
Directions
See the link in the box to the left for Google Maps directions
Lifts
Please use the discussion forum if you need, or can offer, a lift to or from the venue.
Race Times
Details are in the information pack but the morning race is at 9am sharp and the afternoon race at 1:45pm approx. Women's and mixed teams are strongly advised to stay in Nottingham the night before. Men's teams driving up on the morning are advised to leave early, the M1 can be unpredictable and you don't want to leave an anxious team waiting for you on the lakeside.
Race Gear
The swim will almost certainly be wetsuit-mandatory. The bike is straight and dead flat - if you have a choice of bike, take your TT bike. Usual pre-triathlon checklist applied - race belts, bike shoes, helmet etc.
Race Logistics and Briefing
Don't forget the race briefing at Fulham Pools on Thursday night - team captains please attend - anyone else who'd like to come along is also welcome. Captains, remember you need to get your teams registered well before the race. Make sure you leave plenty of time on race day to brief your teams and ensure everyone knows where they need to be and when. Exchange phone numbers with your team so you can keep in touch both at the venue and in case of any late arrivals.
Supporting - Club Gazebo
We will be setting up an encampment by the race course for bike and kit storage, chilling out, spectating and supporting. We'll have the gazebo there and some bike racking. If you have some collapsible chairs you can bring we'll have somewhere to rest our weary legs too. Let's see those Mexican waves for all the Ful-on finishers!
Camping
Most of the club will be camping on Friday and Saturday nights. Details are in the race pack - you pay at reception when you arrive, or pay the following morning if you arrive late. It's about £5 a night from memory. Obviously, don't forget your tent (with pegs!), thermarest and sleeping bag! We'll colonise an area of the site and mark it out with club flags - come and look for us.
Saturday Night
We'll be ordering in some beer, wine and pizza for around 7pm. There should be plenty to drink, but it's always a tragedy to run out, so feel free to BYO in addition, or pop out to the supermarket. If you have any coolboxes or bags, please bring them along, we'll need some way of getting everything chilled. On Saturday afternoon, Sarah Watts will be doing a tally of who's staying Saturday night and who wants food so let her know whether you're staying in Nottingham or heading back to London.
