Ful-On Duathlon : Sat 24th April 2010
The Ful-On Duathlon will take place on Saturday 24th April 2010 at the new venue of Kempton Park Racecourse. The venue offers closed roads and an excellent grandstand arena to view all the action.
Racing will start at 09:30hrs and consist of the following distances: 5k run (2 laps) / 20k bike (6 laps) / 5k run (2 laps). The race is part of the Triathlon London League 2010 race series.
The run consists of two laps of the road inside the jumps course, taking competitors around the lake. The run is flat and mostly on tarred road surfaces, except where it crosses the all weather racecourse. The finish line will be in front of the finishing posts on the all weather racecourse.
The bike course is entirely on the road and contained within a closed road circuit. Each lap takes you out along the flat perimeter road of Kempton Park with a loop around the road enclosing the exercise gallop field beyond the racecourse, before heading back along the perimeter road towards transition and completion of the lap. The loop to complete each lap involves a small incline to give a wide turn back onto the next lap. The bike course is non-drafting and athletes who break the rules will be penalised.
The venue is ideal for novices and experienced competitors alike, with grass areas and a grandstand for easy spectating. There is ample parking and the venue also has its very own railway station, Kempton Park, which is served by trains on the Shepperton to London Waterloo line. Refreshments such as teas, coffees, toasted sandwiches and snacks are available from the Toasty cafe stand in the grandstand area. Bike spares can be purchased from the Prologue Bikes stand, and pre- and post-race massages will be available from Physio4Life. Toilet facilities are located next to the registration area and under the grandstand, however there are no showers or changing facilities. There will be a First Aid ambulance service in attendance throughout the race.
All participants will receive a goodie bag, and there are superb prizes on offer for the first three men and women, and first three male and female vets (over 40), plus team prizes (men: 4 to score; women 3 to score).
