TRIATHLON TRAINING CAMP: Club La Santa, Lanzarote, 4th-10th March 2010
The first Ful-On Tri Training Camp in 2010 will take place at Club La Santa, Lanzarote from Thursday 4th March - Wednesday 10th March. This will be a Richard Hobson TriLiving Training Camp specifically tailored for our club and catering for up to 40 members.
Club La Santa
Club La Santa is the number one sports and active holiday resort in the world and an ideal location to bring partners and family as there are so many activities on offer and also a kids club. It is located on the north east coast of Lanzarote, approx 20mins from Arrecife airport. If you don't know this resort, have a look at www.clublasanta.com.
The running and cycling facilities are awesome, and there is a heated outdoor 50m pool for which we will have up to 6 lanes during the swim sessions, plus open water swimming in the lagoon. The range of optional free classes is far too wide to make informed choices – there are free sessions in windsurfing, spinning, etc.
Our TriLiving Training Camp
Our TriLiving Training Camp is being tailor-made for our club by Richard Hobson and supported by a team of top coaches. The aim is to provide quality coached training sessions for all levels of athlete in all three disciplines. The venue lends itself to a relaxed atmosphere since everything is on offer from one location, so there is no time wasted travelling to sessions which means more time to relax and sit by the pool!
Richard Hobson is passionate about the sport of triathlon, having spent 10 years as a pro, 5 times National Champion, Olympic coach to 2 athletes, former performance coach for the BTF & head coach at Bath Triathlon Performance Centre, and age group coach to European and World Age Group qualifiers. He knows what it takes to succeed, whether you are a beginner, an elite performer, doing it for fun, or you want to be the next Olympic Champion; the knowledge and experience to help will be there. For more information about TriLiving, visit: www.triliving.co.uk.
The swim sessions will include a mixture of technique coaching, aerobic training and open water swimming in the lagoon. Bike rides will be split by ability groupings and will include long rides, time trials and brick training sessions. And there will be a number of running options, including a track session. Download a provisional training programme here: Tri Camp 2010
There will also be evening lectures on offer, covering swim technique, training smarter and a Q&A with the coaches. We'll finish the week off with a mini-tri team race and a group meal with some dodgy dancing thrown in for good measure.
The Cost
Club La Santa offers self-catering apartments which have small kitchens for a self-catered breakfast. There are numerous restaurants and snack bars in the resort for other meals, in addition to a well-stocked supermarket. The cost is based on one-bedroom apartments with twin beds for two people sharing. We are currently holding 20 of these apartments.
The cost of the camp is £465 per person which covers all coaching, accommodation and transfers in Lanzarote. It does not include meals or flights. We will recommend a couple of flights which all campers should aim to take. We will provide transfers (included in the price) for these flights only.
Possible extras: Transporting your own bike (depends on airline) which needs to be pre-booked. Alternatively you can hire a bike for the week from Club La Santa. Prices are approx EUR85 per week, and these MUST be pre-booked. If hiring a bike, you will need to bring your own shoes, pedals and helmet.
Families are very welcome to come and we will work out prices for family groups separately.
Flight options depart from London Gatwick and Stansted – details to follow. We will recommend 2-3 flight options so that we can co-ordinate the local airport transfers. You will need to make your own flight booking. It is important that we know if you are bringing your own bike, so that we can book it on the local airport transfer.
