Ful-On Tri Training Camp 2009

This year Ful-On Tri will travel to Club Pollentia, Mallorca from Friday 27th March - Friday 3rd April 2009 for Richard Hobson’s TriLiving Training Camp specifically tailored for our club.

Club Pollentia

Club Pollentia is located on the north coast of Mallorca in the beautiful bay of Pollensa. The resort features 3 restaurants; 4 bars; a health club with fitness centre (gym, saunas, turkish bath); health & beauty centre (treatments & massage); leisure pool, 6-lane 25m pool, covered heated pool with 2 jacuzzis; 3 shops; kids club; tennis, squash & volley ball courts; petanque area; putting green; archery & rifle range; various water sports and a bicycle centre. The location is ideal for long bike rides in the surrounding hills where road surfaces are exceptional. Swim sessions will take place in the outdoor 25m pool, plus open water swimming from the beach.

Our TriLiving Training Camp

Our TriLiving Training Camp is being tailor-made for our club by Richard Hobson. The aim is to provide quality coached training sessions for all levels of athlete. The venue lends itself to a relaxed atmosphere since everything is on offer from one location, so there is no time wasted travelling to sessions which means more time to relax and sit by the pool!

Richard Hobson is passionate about the sport of triathlon, having spent 10 years as a pro, 5 times National Champion, Olympic coach to 2 athletes, former performance coach for the BTF & head coach at Bath Triathlon Performance Centre, and age group coach to European and World Age Group qualifiers. He knows what it takes to succeed, whether you are a beginner, an elite performer, doing it for fun, or you want to be the next Olympic Champion; the knowledge and experience to help will be there. The swim sessions will include a mixture of technique coaching and open water swimming. Bike rides will be self-led by club coaches and split by ability groupings. These will include hill work, long rides and brick training sessions. And there will be a number of running options on offer.

There will also be evening lectures on offer, covering swim technique and training smarter. We'll finish the week off with a group meal and no doubt some dodgy dancing will be thrown in for good measure.

 

The Cost

Club Pollentia offers half board accommodation and the buffet is renowned for its bountiful supply of great food. The cost is based on twin share rooms. The village room (left) is best for twin occupancy and features larger rooms, large patio/balcony, two beds and bed settee. The Maris room (right) is best for single occupancy, as the rooms are smaller and have a small balcony, big enough for a bike box and bike, but a push for two. We are currently holding accommodation for 40 people. The price includes local transfer from Palma airport to the resort (however, the price will be greater if individual transfers are required). For those booking after the deposit deadline, there may be a slight variation in price according to the accommodation available.

Possible extras: Transporting your own bike (depends on airline) which needs to be pre-booked. Alternatively you can hire a bike for the week from ProCycle Hire. Prices start from EUR100 per week, and you must book direct with them. If hiring a bike, you will need to bring your own shoes, pedals and helmet.

Families are very welcome to come and we will work out prices for family groups separately.

Flight options depart from London Gatwick, Luton and Stansted to Palma – details to follow. We will recommend 2-3 flight options so that we can co-ordinate the local airport transfers. You will need to make your own flight booking.

How to Book:

Contact Mette Kornum or Stuart Anderson by email on camp@fulontri.com and send in your deposit payment & booking form. We must receive all deposit cheques by Friday 31st October.

This is what we need from you:

  • A deposit cheque for £100 made payable to "Ful-On Tri Club". Alternatively you can do a bank transfer to the Club account, but MUST reference payment as "Camp-<yourname>" to clearly identify it;
  • A completed TriLiving Training Camp booking form which should be emailed direct to Richard Hobson on: richardhobson@triliving.co.uk;
  • Your accommodation preference - ie. Village or Maris room;
  • Your room share preference (if any).

The balance will be due 10 weeks before we go, ie. by Friday 16th January. We will allocate room shares once we have made the final booking, unless a preference is specified.
